My Story…

2026 marks 10 YEARS since my breast cancer diagnosis!

From the moment I heard the words 'you have cancer,' I couldn't get it out of my head that I might not be here to experience all of the milestones with my husband and kids. I couldn't go to a doctor's appointment without tearing up and thinking 'what if I don't beat this'? When I finished treatment, there was a different emotion, panic, because my doctor appointments dwindled and I felt like my safety net had been torn away and would begin to wonder what if it comes back, how will I know, what will happen then?

It's a seesaw of emotions, of being grateful for being alive, but worried that it can be ripped away from you at a moment's notice. But time went on and I hit my 2-year cancer-versary, then 5, 7 and so on, and the fear became more of a distant memory.  It always lives in the recesses of my mind, but as I celebrate this incredible milestone, I want to fully focus on the positive and continue to live this life to the fullest!

I have been so blessed to be surrounded by the most incredible village of people during and after my diagnosis, and unfortunately two of those people recently received their own diagnoses. On Saturday, March 21st, I will be running in honor of MA and PR, two amazing women that I am lucky to know and honored to help navigate the overwhelming emotion that comes with a cancer diagnosis. I ask that you join me in running and supporting local women in Charlotte that receive the same devastating news and need our help to get through this journey! Let's be STEPH STRONG together and help raise funds for GO JEN GO!!
